Parking: There are several truck stops off exit 150 A north of the scales- a TA and a Pilot.
Alternate Route Information
There are two ways you can go- both routes have weigh stations on them that close.
You can take exit 146, route 115, before the scales and go south (right turn) 1.1 miles to the light at route 11 north. 11 north is also Williamson Road. You will follow 11 north 4.2 miles. After you turn on to route 11, you will go past a weigh station there. It may be open- don’t take this routing without checking on that. The scale will be 1.6 miles up on your right when you turn onto route 11 north. After the scale, you will come to a 13’8″ overpass in .6 mile. You will then come to the truck stops at the exit just north of the scales.
You can also take exit 143 for I 581 south to the exit for route 460 and alt 220. At the exit, go north. There is a light where alt 220 turns left (past the super Wal-mart). Turn left there and this will take you to the truck stops at the exit north of the scale. There is a pullout/weigh station along this route after the left turn onto alt 220, but it is unlikely to be open. They DO set up in there, though, so keep your ears open. - NB

Alternate Route Information
There are two ways you can go- both routes have weigh stations that close.
You can take exit 150A and go past the truck stops (stay straight at the light for route 11). You will pass a pullout area that DOT sometimes sets up in going this way, but they are not usually in there. You’ll take this to the junction with 220 and 460- turn right. It’s pretty much a dead end there- you’ll have to turn right or left. You will pass a Wal-Mart Supercenter on your right after you make the turn. You will take this all the way to I540 and take I 540 west back to I 81 south.
The other route you can take is to get off at exit 150 A and when you get to the light for route 11, turn right. In 1 mile, you will go under a 13’8″ overpass. This route will take you down past a weigh station on route 11 that is likely to be closed and even if it’s open, they aren’t likely to pull southbound trucks in (it is on the north side of the road). There are signs, however, for the weigh station and for south bound truckers to bypass the scale “when lights are flashing.” The scales will be 2.6 miles south of the light at the truck stops. Route 11 will take you to the light at route 115 north (Plantation Road)- there is a sign there for I 81 and there is a CVS on the north east corner and Sunnybrook Auto Spa on the south east corner. Turn right and go back to I 81 south. It is 4.2 miles from the light at the truck stops to route 115 north. -SB
