Subject: 199th Street Inquiry
I would like a copy of this email distributed to each of the members of the Board of County Commissioners.
I am inquiring about the section of 199th Street between Gardner Road and 169 Highway. I live adjacent to 199th Street and have noticed a huge increase in large over the road trucks since the Intermodal opened. I suggest this truck traffic has increased by 300%. I believe these trucks are trying to avoid the Weigh Station on I-35, which, I believe, is an illegal act.
The second and most disturbing issue with this, is that 199th Street is a hilly, narrow two-lane road with no shoulder. These trucks frequently exceed the 45 mph speed limit. Bicycle riders also share this road frequently, almost daily in good weather. Some day a terrible accident will occur. It is very dangerous to be driving in your lane, top a hill and have 3 or 4 bicycle riders in your lane with an 18-wheeler in the other. It is a serious danger.
I would appreciate your investigation of this increase in truck traffic before something happens to take someone's life.
I would further appreciate a response to me regarding your findings before I submit this information to the Kansas City Star and various news stations.
Thank you for your time.

Customer Feedback:
This is a big joke, open sign on and no one ever there. What a waste of time to the drivers. This makes me mad to see the sign open and no one be there. Maybe one should call them to turn off the sign before they go home, seeing that this task seems to be over there head. - TRUCKER POSTED 04-28-2015
