Parking: There is a Steel City truck stop at exit 34 A, and if you can’t find parking there you can go north on 421 (exit 34 B) and there is a Home Depot/Wal-Mart etc.
Alternate Route Information
There are a couple different routes you can take.
Out of the Gary area, take the toll road 80/90 to exit 39 route 421 north to I 94 or take I 94 to the exit for route 49 south and take 49 south to the toll road, go east on the toll road to exit 39 route 421 north back to I 94.
Or, go to exit 22B for route 20 east. THERE ARE A 13’8″ BRIDGE AND A 14’1″ BRIDGE ON THIS ROUTE. You’ll go past a couple truck stops close to I 94. You’ll go 13.5 miles on route 20 east. You’ll pass Trailer Transit, Inc, Carl’s Truck and Trailer Repair (just past Bedrock and Boulder’s Landscape), and 84 Lumber. When you get close to your turn, you’ll see all kinds of businesses near the intersection. You’ll go to the light at route 421 (Franklin Street). There is an Arby’s on the south west corner, a Walgreens on the north west corner and a Speedway on the south east corner of the intersection. Turn right onto route 421. You’ll be on route 421 for about 1.3 miles until you get to the ramp for east bound I 94. You’ll go past Big Lots, Meijer, Wal-Mart, Lowes and Menards. - EB
Alternate Route Information
Take exit 34 route 421 south to the 80/90 toll road and go west either all the way to the Gary area or take exit 31 for route 49 north back to I 94. - WB
