Alternate Route Information
Out of Bloomington/Normal, take exit 157 A off I 55 south to follow I 74 east to the first exit. Take exit 135 for route 51 and turn south (right). You’ll be on route 51 for 38.5 miles. Route 51 is a good state route with very few lights. You’ll go past the town of Clinton and remain on route 51 (not route 51 business) which has a few lights. You’ll come to the town of Decatur where you’ll have several lights. When you hit the first light in Decatur, you’ll be 1.7 miles north of I 72 west. You’ll pass a Menards on your right, a Lowes on your left, a mall on your right and then a Best Buy on your left. You’ll turn right onto the ramp for I 72 west. You’ll be on I 72 for 39.4 miles until you come to the ramp for I 55 south in Springfield.
