Alternate Route Information
There are two routes you can take- a long route and a short one. Both routes are perfectly legal truck routes. The long route is to catch 14 south out of Mojave and take that down to route 138 west. 138 west is a good 2-lane road that will take you over to I 5 north of the Santa Clarita weigh station. It’s a long way out of route if you’re headed north on I 5 or 99.
The short route is to take exit 172 off route 58- this is the Mojave exit. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto business route 58. Take this 4.9 miles past the civilian flight test center and Price Saver Truck Stop. At the light, turn right- this is still business 58 but you are now at junction with route 14 also. Go .4 miles to the light at Mono Street and turn right. Go .1 mile to the stop sign at K Street and turn left. Go .2 mile to the stop sign at Oak Creek Road and turn left. You will take Oak Creek Road over business route 58 and straight through the four way stop. You will be on Oak Creek Road 10.9 miles- until it dead ends onto Tehachapi Willow Springs Road. Turn right onto Tehachapi Willow Springs Road and go 17.8 miles. Tehachapi Willow Springs Road will dead end onto East Tehachapi Blvd. Turn left onto East Tehachapi Blvd and go .7 miles to the left turn for the ramp back onto route 58 west.
This shorter route has very good roads. There are trucks traveling these roads and it is very scenic. It takes you right through one of the wind farms and it’s actually very pretty.
