Alternate Route Information
The safe bet is to take 101 north and cross the bay on one of the bridges and come back to 880 north of the scales. Tolls on the bridges are westbound only tolls so it will not cost you any money, just mileage.
You can take I 680 out of the San Jose area until you get to the Auto Mall Parkway exit. Auto Mall Parkway is marked “no trucks over 5 tons.” You’ll go west on Auto Mall parkway for 1.7 miles until you come to I 880 north. When you first get onto Auto Mall Parkway from I 680 you’ll pass Fry’s Electronics, Wal-mart and Home Depot stores. - NB

You can take I 880 south to Auto Mall Parkway in Fremont and go east to I 680. Auto Mall Parkway is marked “no trucks over 5 tons.” You will be on Auto Mall Parkway for 1.7 miles and when you get close to I 680 you will see Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Fry’s Electronics stores. There is no scale south of here on I 680. - SB
