4 MI SOUTHWEST OF HOPE
Parking: There is a Red River Truck Stop off exit 18 west of the Hope weigh station. Exit 44 has a TA Travel Center east of the truck scale.
Alternate Route Information for EB
Take exit 18 and turn left off the ramp. Go .7 miles to the dead end at route 67 and turn right. You’ll take route 67 12.8 miles- it will cross under the freeway (a very tall overpass) after about 7 miles you will see signs for a weigh station. There is no weigh station here, however. Locals say there used to be one but it is no longer there. You’ll go into Hope and turn left at the light for South Hervey Street. There is a McMullan Motors on the south east corner of the intersection and a Sonic on the south west corner. You’ll go up 1.4 miles to the ramp for I 30 east bound. There is a rail road overpass before you get to I 30 which is not marked for height- it leaves plenty of room for a 13’6″ truck.
Alternate Route Information for WB
Take exit 30 for route 278 and turn left off the ramp. There is a Wal-Mart to the right of the exit but you’ll go left. You’ll go 1.7 miles- staying straight when route 278 turns left- you’ll stay on business route 278. You’ll cross under a rail road overpass that is not marked for height- it leaves plenty of room for a 13’6″ truck. Go to the light at 3rd Street. There is a Sonic on the south west corner of the intersection. Turn right. You’ll go 12.8 miles on this road which is route 67. BE AWARE: after 4.6 miles you will see signs for a weigh station- there is no weigh station here, however. Locals say there used to be a weigh station but it is no longer there. You’ll continue past the weigh station sign and cross under the freeway. 1/2 mile after you cross under the freeway (which is a very high overpass) you’ll see signs to turn left for I 30. There is a Red River Truck Stop on the far left corner of the turn. Turn left there and go .6 miles back to the ramp for I 30 west.
