Alternate Route Information
THERE IS A PORT OF ENTRY ON THIS ROUTE WHICH SHOULD BE CLOSED AT NIGHT. West of Needles, California, you’ll take exit 133 on I 40. That’s the exit for route 95 north (you can get to route 95 north from the Essex/Goffs Road exit, also. You’ll go north on I 95 about 24 miles until you cross the border into Nevada. Once you cross the border, you’ll go another 1.1 miles to the right turn for Laughlin, Davis Dam and route 163. Turn right and go 3.7 miles to the light in Laughlin. You’ll see a sign before you get there that says turn right for “I 40, Needles” but don’t turn there. Continue straight to the light. You’ll be going down a steep hill and you’ll need to get in the left lane following route 68- it’s a left turn at the light. Once you turn left on est 68 you’ll go 28.2 miles to route 93 south. Right at the junction of route 68 and route 93 there is a port of entry/weigh station. This POE should be closed at night and on weekends but you’ll want to ask ahead. There is an adult bookstore in the town of Golden Valley shortly before the port of entry that has truck parking if you need to wait. Once you get onto route 93, you’ll be about 4 miles north of I 40. At the junction of route 93 and I 40 there is a Travel Centers of America truck stop.
